About

although enthusiastic , i never had the best sporting opportunities growing up. geese rarely ventured into the fields I had access to, and junior flights with wildfowling clubs were a rare privilege.

Limited feed in my fields and unwilling geese were constant challenges, and as I got older, came the added pressure of providing shooting opportunities for clients.

To produce geese, standard tactics didn't work, but I could always try to trick passing geese into believing my fields were worth a visit.

Big decoy spreads weren’t an option; thus, calls were my only salvation.

I scoured the market, trying every brand available, only to be met with constant disappointment. Whether it was wooden calls that inevitably cracked and split and other poor materials like Delrin, creating calls that were not audibly adequate. or the worst, where one simple design tuned slightly differently for multiple species that just weren’t effective creating a call that was a mediocre compromise for both of the species it was marketed for.

Driven by a need to drag geese into areas they otherwise wouldn't and the need for reliable equipment, I made the decision to create my own calls.

Seeking inspiration, I looked to America where calling is its own sport, and I was astounded by how far off the mark we (the UK) were in terms of materials, techniques, and innovation. Short reeds, cutdown calls, shaved reeds, tone holes- so much deemed essential that had simply been neglected within the UK.

Volume and speed were vital: Forcing geese to have a look and almost winching them into the decoys, and it is reflected in my designs.

The once elusive geese now fervently charged my spreads, turning my once challenging sport into almost a certainty.

As my designs took shape and the results spoke for themselves, others took notice. Requests flooded in for calls that could replicate my success. I briefly considered keeping my creations to myself, but I couldn’t ignore the state of the market in the UK.

My commitment to you:

  • Authenticity: No duplicated designs marketed as different calls.

  • Integrity: We promise never to pass off someone else’s design or parts as our own.

  • Quality: Expect only the best materials. No compromises with sub-par substances like Delrin.

  • Originality: Our calls are tailored individually for specific birds, with years of development.

  • No Gimmicks: We let the quality of our calls speak for themselves, without the distraction of flashy marketing or plastic colours.

Ambitions for the Future:

I have unique prototype calls for every major UK species, and they will all be available soon. From there it’s hopefully decoys, clothing, and waders. It's not about the money but the customer, and as long as someone enjoys the products, I’ll keep making them. I can guarantee moving forward there will always be something new at Tricky Pink Decoys, and then who knows.....one product at a time, we’ll see how far it goes.

Customer Testimonials

“After a mix up with delivery (a fault on the couriers behalf) the seller did everything he could to rectify the issue and get another sent straight out. The quality of the caller is great, well constructed and very loud compared other callers I have used. Can't wait to get out on the marsh and test it out. Tricky Pink Decoys are a 5* seller I would definitely recommend”
